Red is one of the most controversial colors since it is connected to so many different aspects of the mind:

  • Love and romance
  • Gentle
  • Warmth and comfort
  • Excitement and energy
  • Blood
  • Power
  • Danger
  • Lust
  • Embaressament

Red=Love

When we think of red,love is generally the association that comes to mind first.

It has been demonstrated that this color raises blood pressure, alters metabolism, and quickens heart and breathing rates.

The strong bodily connection between this color and the emotion of love is a result of its significant physical effects.

Excitement

As said before studies show that this pecuriliar hue can affect our body:

  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Enhanced metabolism
  • Increased heart rate
  • Increased respiration rate

As with yellow and orange, an increase in metabolism ultimately results in an increase in appetite.

Lust

In addition, desire and romance often link to the hue red. 

The film industry uses it to establish contrast and convey the characters’ sensuality.

In fact, a study found that most men find a woman highly attractive when she is wearing red clothing than when she is wearing clothing of another hue.

Power

In women’s culture red simbolize power. For this reason the red tie is a symbol of authority and that’s why the stereotype of the red tie for businessmen is so popular.

Connection with danger

Our body powerful reaction link directly to the feeling of danger.This is why most of the signal of danger mainly are red.Then the color red resemble to the color of blood reinforcing our perception of hazard.
